In May, 2005 I did a four day rim to rim backpacking trip from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I went down the North Kaibab, up Bright Angel Trail to the Tonto and west on the Tonto to take the Hermit Trail out of the canyon. The weather turned hot the last two days, 100+ in the shade. Unfortunately there is no shade on the Tonto Trail.
